Dan,
I’ve got a new one for you to look into. It’s called DIAL2GO.com. Supposedly you can create your own command for where you want to post the task.
Then you give it the URL. I’ve not make it work yet. I’m not sure I’m sending it to the right URL.
http://gomentat.com/home/list is what I put in. IS this correct?

Is there any thought to implement sub-sub projects? I manage a (small) engineering department, and I’d like to have “work” and “life” as two main groupings, with individual master projects under that, and then the individual, multi-step projects under them.
I really like Mentat (and Brain Murmurs in general) and hope I can participate in the dialogs that will further its development into the great tool I know I can be.

Topic: General Mentat Discussion / Training, please!

I’m really taken by your product’s potential, and looking forward to giving it a good tryout. But, I’m stumped by the lack of how-to guidance. I’m not much good at thrashing around without guidance and figuring stuff out, so I usually need a print user’s manual and/or tutorial videos.
I haven’t found any kind of logical user’s manual – is it maybe tucked away in some corner of the Mentat’s mind (great reference, by the way)?
And, when I play one of the (3?!?) tutorials, there’s no sound. Is that by intent or are they broken? This has occurred on the web interface support page in both PC-XP and Mac Leopard.

This isn’t ready for prime time yet, but Garrett and I have been working on a new network architecture for the mentat service that offers considerably higher performance and scalability than our existing service.
You can test it out (it’s running with a somewhat old data set) at http://mentat.brainmurmurs.com, but you should be aware that the data on that site will eventually be overwritten with the regular gomentat.com data.

I just discovered a new voice to text service that works from just about anywhere. It’s called ReQall. So far it has proved to get the text down well. It comes as a email or SMS. I can send that text to Mentat as a task.

Topic: General Mentat Discussion / Blackberry 4.5 OS

The story is that AT&T is supposed to release the 4.5 OS this month.
I’ve been using it on my device, and mentat seems to have issues with entering and/or displaying due dates on the device. In the project list, they are just “2008-” after editing.
Maybe that was a problem on 4.2, but I don’t think so and it’s kind of hard to go back to try it out.
Any plans for a tested, release 4.5 OS version of the BB mentat client?

A new build of Aria Touch was uploaded to Apple last week that addresses the memory warnings issues. It should be available to you as a free update by about the middle of this coming week.

Getting LOADS of memory warnings on my AriaTouch on my iPhone.
Also, when creating a new task, the top half of the iphone window dims, and I can’t access the “Done” button. Really really strange!
Any ideas? I migrated to Mentat after having huge crash issues with Omnifocus, both Mac and iPhone.
(I have latest AriaTouch version, iPhone version and Mac os version.)

In a past discussion there was mention of being able to create a Mentat task from a note or memo. Has any work been done on that?

Well, the regular Jott service will work fine with Mentat and only costs $3.95 a month, not $12.95 (the cost for Jott Pro). So you can continue to use it by paying the $48/year, not $150.

Has there been any progress on email to Task? This would be a GREAT feature in Mentat, and make it much more user friendly. It could even replace some of the functionality that I like(ed) from Jott.

The nice thing about Jott is that it turns your spoken message into text for use in Mentat. Too bad they’re charging the way they are. I’d consider a one time charge, but think $150.00 a year is a bit much.

I posted this idea 2 months ago and see no comments on it. Do none of the other users have use for keeping track of notes, etc on a project, or do you do that in yet another program? If that’s the case, I’d love to know what people are using. Thanks.

I would like to move from Basecamp to Mentat for my small team. The main issue is that i have to manually invite each team member to each new project, then manually enable each project for Jott. Could you add default settings such that ALL team members are enabled in ALL projects unless I opt them out (eg for my ‘personal’ folder)? This would be awesome. Same goes for auto-enablement for Jott.

Have you looked into VR+? It does cost, but it is only a one-time cost as compared to the monthly cost of Jott.

We’re not happy about Jott’s decision to do this. They didn’t even contact us to let us know that this was happening. We’re still working on an announcement for our users.

JOTT to MENTAT now costs money.
My letter from Jott was heralding the good news that Jott was now out of BETA. However, it now means being able to Jott to Mentat costs me money.
It’s not much, but could make me look for other options.

I’m having trouble trying to figure out how tasks work in a shared project. What I want to do is share a grocery list. I can access it on my blackberry and my wife can access it on her iPhone. The problem I’m having is that anything she creates I can’t see and anything I create she can’t see.
Part of the problem seems to involve the assigning of tasks. Is there anyway to see a task that is not assigned to you. If I assign a task to her through the website, it is immediately gone from my view and tasks that she created, she is unable to see. I’m on a Mac, she’s using XP. Any ideas??

Often I receive emails that I need to convert into tasks, I am using Entourage 2008, is there a way to achieve this with Mentat?
